The third of many Vacuum Tube Theremin electronic musical instruments. This one utilizes a pitch only antenna that is very easy to operate and play.... It sounds great. Enigma Sonder Klasse prototype. This special tube Theremin utilizes 9 tubes with 3 oscillators each variable tunable, highly interactive and creates a host of unique sound effects. This Theremin has a pitch antenna an adjustable volume control giving the thereminist complete control of the unit. The sonder Klasse prototype incorporates a special feature which the designer calls “Earth Oscillator”, The dynamic frequency range of this oscillator is from about 1hertz to 40 hertz. This subtle low frequency “Vibrato” creates a very interesting effect that enhances the Theremins oscillators. The low frequency vibrato is adjustable. This Theremin provides a standard 1/4” mono output jack and requires an external amplifier source.

This Theremin utilizes 6 tubes and produces a cacophony of interesting musical sounds and also features the special “Earth Oscillator” effect that adds a touch of vibrato that some have said you can actually feel. This is where the “Magic” comes in. He astounds people with his ability to create inimitable effects units from vintage tubes that have been long forgotten. For him vacuum tubes are a pure electronic art form. In fact, he is always coming up with incredible one of a kind effects units that will blow you away. They are not all featured on this website because as soon as he makes one someone comes running to buy it.

Little Bear is always working on new designs and concepts and inventing things. He just can’t help himself! He is a true master with forty years of electronic engineering experience. He enjoys digging around in his vast store of old new stock of wonderful electronic treasures from the early to mid- twentieth century to create all kinds of fascinating instruments. For example, he has created a tube preamp that utilizes vintage metal tubes from the late 30's and 40's. The circuit concept was taken from radio gear that was used in the bombers that were often aloft during the years of the Second World War. These tubes were rugged and long lasting and when now used as preamplifier tubes engineered in “tone blocks” they selectively roll off about 8 decibels of the bass frequencies, creating a very unique flat, bright sound that enhances voice. The sound is like the bright sound that radio engineers preferred in the early days of radio broadcasting. Other preamplifiers he has designed produce audio qualities reminiscent of the sound produced in intercom systems in the cockpit and interior of a B-17 bomber.

There are many that once they acquire one of our units find themselves putting their other preamps, amps and Thermins in the closet. Our vacuum tube Theremin, they declare, is all they need.
